Have you been enjoying the summer sun? Spending warm days splashing, swimming and soaking in the sea/dam/creek/lake/pool?
This is the time of year when I utilise the sun to dry out various herbs from the garden; oregano leaf, peppermint leaf, coriander seeds, parlsey seeds, fennel seeds and dill seeds. Towards the end of summer and into autumn this will also include calendular seeds, climbing beans, and then giant marigold seeds. Once dry they are placed into clean jars and are ready for use throughout the year, for eating and/or replanting.
I also use a dehydrator to help preserve the abundance of summer fruits - mango, strawberries, blueberries, cherries, and peaches. Delicious! Again, once dry, they are all placed into clean jars and used throughout the year.
We have a Ezidri Snackmaker FD500 Family Food Drier at home, but I always welcome the opportunity to borrow my cousins super duper Excaliber Dehydrator. It is more efficient and is considered one of the worlds best dehydrators. (You can find links for more information on both below.)
Do you dehydrate any fruit, vegetables, meat or meals? I'd love to hear if you have any favourites.
Wishing you all the best,
x Freya
